Energy Department allocates $68 million to 53 facilities studying clean energy conversion.
The Department of Energy has announced that $68 million will be distributed between 53 small businesses researching clean energy solutions on American soil. These funds are provided by the department’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) awards, which will help these organizations develop software for energy systems, carbon capture technology, and geothermal solutions.
“From the Industrial Revolution to Silicon Valley, small businesses have always propelled innovation in America, and they will play a critical role in the transition to clean energy,” said Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. “The companies working on the incredible projects announced today are creating a bridge between the laboratory and the marketplace, where the rubber will meet the road.”
